Hi, I'm Jo Futerman

I am a professionally trained and certified Life Coach, ADHD Coach and Meditation Teacher

When I began my coaching practice more than a decade ago, I was on a path of personal growth and development. Realizing the negative impact that all the worry and anxiety had on my life, I knew I needed to make changes.  It was introduced to the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and committed to a daily meditation practice. The benefits of this practice were truly life changing. Teaching these mindfulness practices has since become an integral part of the work that I do with my clients.

I’ve worked with a broad range of individuals— from students, to professionals, to entrepreneurs, to stay-at-home moms and dads— many of whom struggle with challenges often associated with attention deficit, or overactive, creative, beautiful minds! The most important part of the work that I do with my clients is in developing a practice of self- care, mindfulness and self-awareness. These are the foundations for positive change.

I have helped hundreds of adults dramatically improve the quality of their lives. My goal is to EDUCATE my clients on the importance of self-care so they can EMBRACE their uniqueness and beauty, and EMPOWER them to make lasting change in their lives.

And on a personal note...

I have been happily married for over 30 years. We have 3 terrific children (including a wonderful stepdaughter who came into my life when I met my husband over 30 years ago),  amazing twin grandsons, and an adorable four-legged fur child – a Havanese named Kirby. As the parent of an adult child with ADHD, I know the challenges that we face. I also understand the challenges and struggles that my son has faced and the bumpy road often traveled. While I’m not diagnosed with ADHD, it is likely that I too have this amazing brain. In most cases, it’s genetic. We know for sure he didn’t get it from his dad 😉  So, yes, I do understand the complexities of this very busy brain! It’s why I’m so passionate about helping others who face these challenges and struggles, to make their journey an easier one.

I love spending time with my family. We’re an active family that loves to ski, play tennis, travel and laugh together. A lot of laughing!

Some other things that I really love:

  • Quiet time and taking long walks with Kirby
  • Classic rock (especially The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen – 2 of my faves)
  • Singing out loud, in spite of my not so great voice
  • Karaoke, of course!
  • A really good audiobook that I can listen to on walks, long drives or while cooking dinner.

And more than anything, I LOVE TO LAUGH and HAVE FUN!

The Hummingbird

I’ve been asked many times why I have a hummingbird in my logo. The hummingbird is small creature who everyday finds delicious nectar within the tough, bitter parts of the flower, while humming with a happy heart. The hummingbird is a reminder that happiness lies within. When we accept the bitter parts to life, we are then able to allow our inner peace to grow, giving us the freedom and ability to enjoy the sweet side of life!

"My Coaching Philosophy"

Educate

I work with my clients, educating them in the practice of mindfulness. I help them gain a better understanding of self, because with knowledge comes power! Through mindfulness we create self-awareness of thoughts and behaviors that have a negative impact on their lives.

Embrace

Together, we explore your gifts, strengths and unique talents. Through developing a practice of self-love and self-care, my clients can truly embrace who they are. This is the foundation on which positive, lasting change can be made!

Empower

Through our work, my clients build self-confidence and self-esteem. They become empowered to live the life they were meant to live, achieving their goals and fulfilling their purpose.
